Hi, my name is Jennifer and I love storytelling.
I recently graduated from the University of Alabama, where I studied PR and art. I’m a photographer, writer and avid Pinterest user. Currently, I am petsitting, doing freelance photography and painting.
The boring stuff- my resume
Alabama Alumni Magazine
Summer 2023- Spring 2024
As an intern for the Alabama Alumni Magazine, I wrote stories, took some photos, and helped behind the scenes with the website for the Alumni Association. Alumni Magazine publishes quarterly issues that highlight alumni from the University and update alumni with news and events going on around campus. It was an incredible opportunity to pitch and research my own stories about the many unique alumni of the Capstone.
Alice
Fall 2021-Spring 2024
Alice is a fashion, beauty, and lifestyle magazine at the University of Alabama that is completely produced, edited and distributed by students. I’ve contributed to nine issues of Alice, with two fashion stories and countless photos published over the course of three years. I served as photography editor for Alice Volume 9 (and my photo is on the cover of Volume 9 Issue 2!)
Capstone Agency
Fall 2022 - Spring 2024
As a creative media producer for Capstone Agency, my main job was to create photo and video content for our client as part of a team dedicated to their specific campaign goals. In 2022, my team produced an internal campaign centered around sustainability for Coca-Cola United Bottling Co., based in Montgomery, AL. We continued to produce deliverables for both internal and external use, presenting regular content calendars for our client and visiting their facilities to gather content. I also participated in two Create-A-Thons with Capstone Agency, a pro-bono PR fundraiser each spring, where I contributed creative copy and design to rebrand nonprofit organizations.
The Crimson White
Fall 2022 - Spring 2024
I joined the photography staff for the Crimson White, the University of Alabama’s student newspaper, in 2022. I became a part-time staff photographer in 2023. The CW gave me the opportunity to continue working on one of my favorite forms of photography, sports photography! I’ve covered everything from football, baseball, and gymnastics to homecoming festivities, protests, and campus tree measurements. I traveled to cover the SEC Gymnastics Championship in New Orleans in 2024 and was able to cover the NCAA Baseball Regional in Tuscaloosa in 2023.
Association for Women in Sports Media
Summer 2022-Spring 2024
The Association for Women in Sports Media, or AWSM, is an organization on campus at Alabama for networking and professional development for students interested in the sports industry, particularly women. I became social media chair in 2022, managing our Instagram and Twitter channels, and served as vice president for the 2023-24 school year. We hosted guest speakers who work in the industry, and they offered advice and answered questions about their career and experiences.
Joie de Vivre
Spring 2022
In the spring of 2022, I took a study abroad course called International Storytelling and became the photography editor for a travel magazine called Joie de Vivre— the joy of life. We documented our travels in France over spring break in this digital magazine, and I took most of the photos that appear in it. I also wrote a couple of stories for the magazine and put together a photostory capturing street fashion in Paris.
Blueprints
2019-2020
I was a part of the yearbook staff in high school, which is how I discovered my passion for photography- especially sports photography- and storytelling. I was one of two co-editors-in-chief my senior year, so I was in charge of designing the cover, picking the theme, and creating templates for page layouts for the yearbook. I also photographed a wide variety of sports and events at school.
I frequently petsit for neighbors and friends (Getting paid to hang out with puppies? Um, yes!) and I worked part-time at Publix from 2017-2023. I also do freelance portrait photography.
