I have an art minor with a focus in painting. I work with a lot of oil, sometimes acrylic and watercolor. I often incorporate other materials like textiles and collage into my work. Here are some of my favorites. View fullsize This painting is oil on cardboard. It was an assignment in my Painting II class to render a familiar space (in this case, a corner of my room) with some elements of abstraction. View fullsize This huge unstretched canvas piece was an assignment in my Painting II class. It's mostly acrylic- I did a lot of acrylic pouring- as well as some oil. View fullsize This is a 24x36 oil on canvas piece I did inspired by my study abroad in Spain for a study abroad studio art class. It's based on a photo I took in the gardens of the Greco museum in Toledo, Spain, with some extra color inspired by Gaudi architecture in Barcelona. View fullsize This was the final project in my Painting I class, and it's oil on a large stretched canvas. The underpainting is in bold, complimentary colors to add luminosity, and I worked with a lot of wax medium to create texture. View fullsize This piece was in a local art show when I was in high school. It's a mixed media portrait, mostly watercolor with a bit of acrylic mixed in for opacity and ink to outline some things. View fullsize This was the final project for my Painting II class, where we were assigned to use found materials. It's a combination of acrylic and watercolor on cardboard and unstretched canvas, as well as some textile embellishments with fabric and embroidery thread and a little glitter. All of the fabric and cardboard pieces were hand sewn with embroidery thread and needles. View fullsize This is another small oil piece I did for fun and used a lot of wax medium for texture. View fullsize This is a mixed media portrait of a character in Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo named Kaz Brekker. It's a mixture of acrylic and watercolor on canvas with newspaper collage. I tend to mix watercolor into the acrylic paint with pieces like this to layer softer colors-- in this piece, most of the watercolor was used in the background to tint the newspaper and blend it with the acrylic. View fullsize This was a still life assignment in my Painting I class to study reflective objects. It's just oil on canvas. View fullsize This was a still life assignment in my Painting I class to study planar objects. It's oil on canvas. View fullsize This is a baseball-themed acrylic on canvas piece I did for fun. I wanted to explore more pop art style and color. The player silhouettes are based on Max Fried (top left) and Rafael Devers (bottom right). I also used some acrylic paint pens to add details.
